Author's Notes

Created as a project for my Game Design course, Author's Notes is a semi-autobiographical game which explores depression, loneliness, abuse, fandom, community, and finding yourself in the chaos.

You play as Joan, a 20-something woman who is lacking direction and working a dead-end retail job. By going online and being part of a community for a game you love, you meet people who encourage you to write fanfiction as a creative outlet.

The gameplay consists of "battling" esoteric concepts like negative self-talk and troll comments while you write. Along the way, you'll make friends, find enemies, experience loss, and if you're lucky, find the direction you need to move forward.
